Joining a Domain

Logging on to a Domain" in Chapter 16.)

To join a domain:

1. Choose Start > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > System > Computer Name tab > Network ID button.

The Network Identification Wizard appears.

2. Click Next to skip the Welcome page.

3. Select This Computer Is Part of a Business Network; then click Next.

4. Select My Company Uses a Network Domain; then click Next.

5. Click Next to skip the Network Information page.

This page tells you what information you'll need to know in advance to join the domain.

6. Type the user name, password, and domain name supplied by your network administrator; then click Next (Figure 17.9 ).

7. If the Active Directory domain doesn't recognize your PC, the Computer Domain page appears; consult your network administrator, and click Next.

8. Select Do Not Add a User at This Time; click Next; then click Finish.

9. You may have to restart your computer to join the domain.
