To start PowerPoint

On the taskbar, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Office, and then click Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003.

To display the task pane

On the View menu, click Task Pane.

To open a presentation

On the File menu, click Open to display the Open dialog box.

Browse to the location of the file, and double-click it.

To save a presentation

On the File menu, click Save As.

Type a name for the file, create a new folder or browse to a new folder location if necessary, and then click Save.

To close a presentation

Click the Close button.

To view the presentation in a particular view

In the lower-left corner of the window, click the button for the view you want.

To hide the formatting of a slide in Slide Sorter view

Hold down the [ALT] key and the mouse button while pointing to a slide.

To advance to the next slide in a slide show

Without moving your mouse, click the mouse button.

To return to the current view after viewing a slide show

Click the black screen.

To use the AutoContent Wizard to create a presentation

In the New Presentation task pane, click From AutoContent Wizard, and then click Next.

Click the button for the category of presentation you want.

In the list, click the type of presentation you want to create, and then click Next.

Select the On-screen presentation option, if necessary, to select that presentation type, and then click Next.

Type a name in the Presentation title and Footer boxes.

Click Next, and then click Finish.

To start a new presentation with a design template

In the New Presentation task pane, click From Design Template.

In the Slide Design task pane, click the slide design you want.

In the Slide Design task pane, click the Other Task Panes down arrow to display a list of the task panes, and then click Slide Layout.

In the Slide Layout task pane, click a slide layout.

To create a blank presentation

In the New Presentation task pane, click Blank Presentation.

On the Standard toolbar, click the New button.
