To apply a color scheme
In the Slide pane, click a slide.
On the Formatting toolbar, click the Slide Design button, and in the Slide Design task pane, click Color Schemes.
In the Slide Design task pane, click the color scheme you want to apply.
In the Slide Design task pane, click the Close button to close the task pane.

To change a color in a color scheme
In the Slide pane, click a slide.
On the Formatting toolbar, click the Slide Design button, and in the Slide Design task pane, click Color Schemes.
Click Edit Color Schemes at the bottom of the Slide Design task pane.
In the Scheme colors area, click the color box you want to change.
Click Change Color.
In the color palette, click the color you want, click OK, and click Apply.

To add a color to the color palette
In the Slide pane, click a slide.
Select a text object to display the dotted selection box.
On the Drawing toolbar, click the down arrow to the right of the Font Color button.
On the drop-down color palette, click More Colors.
Click the color you want to add.
Click OK.

To add a shade to a slide background
In the Slide pane, click a slide.
On the Format menu, click Background.
Click the down arrow to the right of the Background fill box.
On the Background Fill menu, click Fill Effects.
In the Colors area, select the One color option.
Click the down arrow to the right of the Color 1 box, and then click the color box that you want to change.
Select the options you want to apply, click OK, and click Apply.

To apply a texture to a slide background
In the Slide pane, click a slide.
On the Format menu, click Background.
Click the down arrow to the right of the Background fill box, and then click Fill Effects.
Click the Texture tab, and then select the textured fill option you want to apply.
Click OK to display the Background dialog box, and then click Apply.
