Testing Your Web Database

Before you publish your databases, test them first with all the FileMaker-certified browser versions to make sure they work the way you expect. By testing several browsers, you can make sure that no major problems will appear when visitors using various browsers access your pages.

To test published databases

1 .Open the databases configured for Web sharing in FileMaker.

2 .On the same computer, start your Web browser.

3 .Open a blank browser page.

4 .

Type http://localhost/ in the address line (Figure 17.53).

Figure 17.53. Typing Localhost instead of an IP address will access the hosted databases on the same computer you're working on.

The default start page (or the custom one, if designated) will appear in your browser.

5 .Use your browser to view the layouts.

6 .Switch back to FileMaker to make any necessary changes (like adjusting field height and width).

7 .Switch back to the browser and click the Refresh or Reload button to see the changes.
