Web Design History: 19952005
First, a quick bit of history. Back in the Stone Age of web design (not Wright's 1976; more like 1995remember, we've moved on), web sites were coded entirely by hand using basic text editors. Imagine coding an entire page by hand, let alone an entire site? Lordy! One missed bracket or missed space, and entire page components wouldn't function properly. Pass the aspirin. Aww, whaddya go and do?
Then a few clever software companies issued programs that made it easier to cod89 using a text-based mode. This enabled designers to use buttons to build page blocks, taking at least some of the agony out of hand coding.
