Stationary, Stationery

The only difference in the spelling of these two words is the -ary and -ery endings. One of these terms refers to something that cannot be moved, something that is fixed in its location. The other means "paper for writing letters."

The new company stationery has the company motto at the top.

Did you order enough stationery to answer all the customer letters?

The copying machine is on wheels; it is not stationary.
