Seyyed Abdullah Behbahani

Seyyed Abdullah Behbahani, son of Seyyed Ismael

Mojtahed Behbahani. He was born in 1260 AH. He

took part in the classes of some great clergymen

including; Sheikh Mortheza Ansari, Haj Mirza

Mohammad-Hassan Shirazi and Haj Seyyed Hossein

Kooh-Kamari, and he got the Jurisprudence Degree.

He returned to Tehran in 1295 AH. After his father’s

death, he replaced him in Tehran Seminary.

Behbahani was a political and clever jurisprudent whose

bravery and eloquence was unique in Tehran.

Ayatollah Seyyed Behbahani not only was one of the

clergymen who had a special role in the Constitutional

Movement, but also was a member of the parliament

who controlled Shah’s actions. Therefore, by the

leadership of clergymen including; Ayatollah Kashani,

people stood against Shah’s despotism, and requested

the performance of Islam rules. So the National Consultative

Assembly was formed and it decreased Shah’s authority
