  • B

    baseline shift

The process of raising or lowering text characters to control positioning or alignment in a design. A positive baseline shift value raises the text and a negative value lowers it, as calculated from the initial baseline positioning.

    bicubic

An interpolation method that delivers quality results when changing the size or resolution of an image. The Bicubic Sharper method is optimized for image size reduction, and the Bicubic Smoother method is optimized for image enlargement. Other interpolation methods include Bilinear and Nearest Neighbor.

    blending modes

Preset functions that compare a source image with new data such as a separate layer or paint tool. Blending modes compare and combine these two sets of pixel data to create unique imaging effects.

    border

The outlined edge of a path or selection. Borders can be selected independently and can be filled and stroked.

    Bridge

Photoshop's native file browser and organizer that allows you to open files, sort and preview images and camera data, and apply batch commands to one or many files simultaneously. Its interface is common to all the Adobe CS2 applications.
