As-Sahīfa-tus-Sajjādīah

This respectable book is a collection of supplications composed by his Holiness
Imām Sajjād Zayn-ul-Ābedīn (A.S.), and transcribed by his honorable son Imām
Muhammad Bāqir (A.S.). Also Imām Ja'far Sādiq (A.S.) has been present in the
sessions and heard the words of his grandfather.

Sahīfa-tus-Sajjādīah consists of 54 supplications on Gnostic, ethical,
ideological, social, and political subjects.

Authenticity:

Sahīfa-tus-Sajjādīah
is entitled as The Bible of Ahl-ul-Bayt (A.S.)' and The Pslams (Zabūr) of the
household of holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.)' among the Ulamā (religious scholars)
of Shi'a.

As
Bible of Jesus, and, Psalms of David were two celestial books containing divine
knowledge and wisely teachings; Sahīfah also contains similar aspects, which
lead people to redemption and salvation.

In
many expressions, the Ulamā of Shi'a have entitled Sahīfa as Ukht-ul-Qurān
(sister of Qurān); vs. Imām Alī's Nahj-ul-Balāghah', which is called
Akh-ul-Qurān (brother of Qurān).

An
Innovative Style:

Sahīfah' teaches lots of Islamic science, knowledge and precepts just in form
of supplications and requests from Allāh (the Most High).

It
introduces Allāh, His holy Prophet, and the infallible Imāms (A.S.) with a kind
of reasoning that is based on two bases of wisdom' and knowledge'.

This book awakens those neglecters of the right path, and trains all beautiful
attributes, merits, and ethical virtues that sage people deserve. It
demonstrates how to ask Allāh the Almighty to fulfill our needs, how to pray for
each other. Consequently, it guides all people to the divine cognizance.

Recommendations to the Rulers
:

In
Sahīfah, Imām Sajjād (A.S.) encourages rulers, governors and authorities towards
kindness and humbleness in their approach to the weak and vulnerable people of
the society.

It
also illustrates seeking help from Almighty Allāh, to overcome enemies in Jihād
(the holy war).

Documentation:

Besides Imām Bāqir (A.S.), Sahīfah has been transcribed by his brother Zayd the
son of Ali'. After martyrdom of Zayd, his son Yahyā' delivered this copy to his
cousins Muhammad and Ibrāhīm' by Mutawakkil Ibne Hārūn'. Mutawakkil Ibne Hārūn
cites: "I compared the copy of Sahīfah transcribed by Zayd with that of Imām
Bāqir (A.S.) - which was available with Imām Sādiq (A.S.) and noticed that
they did not differ, even in a single letter."

Imām Sādiq (A.S.) has also dictated Sahīfah' to some of his disciples such as
Mutawakkil Ibn-e Hārūn.

Consequently, attribution of Sahīfat-ul Sajjādīah to Imām Sajjād (A.S.) is
Mutawātir' (widely transmitted by Shi'a scholars and jurisprudents).
