System Configuration
Solaris provides a simple way to view all the hardware devices on your system. This information can be used to configure your system. For example, by identifying the disk devices on your system, you can correctly select targets for formatting.The prtconf command is used for displaying system information:

This section shows the hardware architecture (sun4u, which means that this is a Sun 4 system with an UltraSPARC CPU) and that it has 128MB of RAM.The following section identifies the terminal emulator, keyboard, and UFS. These devices are necessary to boot a Solaris system.
