base address

A base address is the first IP address in either a network address or a subnetwork address block. The base address typically serves as the address for that network or subnetwork.

best-effort delivery

The User Datagram Protocol is designed to provide a best-effort delivery. That is, it makes one attempt to deliver data and entrusts the network to get that data delivered. That is known as best-effort delivery.

bit
