Welcome Pages

Prior to discussing the various administrative tools themselves, there is one important OES Linux tool to point outthe OES Linux Welcome Pages. These pages, shown in Figure 5.1, are a collection of introduction pages for each OES Linux web-based utility. These utilities are both administrative utilities, such as iManager and NRM, and user-level utilities, such as Virtual Office and NetStorage.

To view the OES Linux Welcome Pages, use a web browser to access your OES Linux server's IP address or DNS. For example:

http://www.quills.com or http://192.168.1.100

The Welcome Pages are made up of two frames. The left-hand frame is the navigation frame and contains links to all Welcome Pages divided into five categories. Beneath each category are links to introduction pages for specific utilities. Selecting one of these utilities opens the appropriate introductory page in the right-hand frame of the Welcome Pages.

Welcome Page categories and introductory pages found within each category are described in the following list: End User Software
This category contains introductory pages that end users may be interested in, including iFolder, iPrint, NetStorage, QuickFinder, and Virtual Office. Also included in this category is an introductory page for Novell eDirectory.

Open Source
This category contains an introductory page for OpenWBEM, which forms a foundation of OES Health Monitoring.

Network Management
This category contains an introductory page for iManager. This is the central administrative tool for OES Linux.

Server Management
This category contains introductory pages that help manage the local OES server. Introductory pages include such things as Health Monitoring, Novell Storage Services (NSS), Remote Manager (NRM), and Storage Management Services (SMS).

Other Novell Services
This category contains an introductory page for Novell Cluster Services (NCS).

Each OES component introductory page includes links to utilities, and documentation specific to the component in the upper-right corner of the introductory page. From an administrative perspective, the two most important categories are Network Management and Server Management. On the introductory pages beneath these categories, links to iManager, NRM and several other important utilities can be found.
