Summary

In this chapter you’ve seen the requirements of the NewsLine service, as background for the case study that you’ll work through in the following chapters.

You also reviewed in outline the reasons for NewsLine’s choice of three important meta data standards: PRISM 1.2, RDF, and RSS 1.0. Having seen our first thoughts on a design, perhaps you’ll have begun to think of how you might apply them when it comes to building an XML vocabulary for the NewsLine InfoPath application.

That comes up next in Chapter 13, where you’ll step through the form design process, with a look at data input structures and a main schema for InfoPath. In Chapter 14 you’ll work through the template implementation in detail. Chapters 15 and 16 cover the ADO processing logic for payment calculations and for posting to the archive server. In Chapter 17 you’ll look at schemas for the Excel and RSS outputs, and see examples of the XSLT transforms that might be applied to achieve them.
