Logging On and Logging Off" in Chapter 1, Windows gives you two ways to log on (if you're not on a domain):
The
Welcome screen (refer to Figure 1.1) is the easiest and fastest way to log on. You simply click your name and type your password (if you have one).
The
classic logon prompt (see Figure 16.4 later in this chapter) is a more secure, less convenient method. You must type your user name and, if necessary, your password.
You can turn on Fast User Switching (described in Chapter 1) if:
The Welcome screen is turned on.
To control how users log on:
1. Choose Start > Control Panel > User Accounts.
2. Click Change the Way Users Log On or Off (visible in Figure 16.1).
3. Select the logon options; then click Apply Options (Figure 16.12 ).
