Applying Drop Shadows

You can apply a drop shadow to anything on your InDesign page: imported graphics, text frames, lines, and even tables (see Figure 85-1). Drop shadows are an effect attached to an object, so they can be edited or removed at any time. Apply a drop shadow by choosing a frame with the Selection tool and selecting Drop Shadow from either the Object menu or the context menu (or press Command-Option-M/Ctrl-Alt-M)then turn on the Drop Shadow checkbox. If you select a text frame with a fill color of None, InDesign applies the drop shadow to the text; if the fill is any other color, the drop shadow applies to the frame itself.

The Drop Shadow dialog box lets you set the shadow's color, opacity, and blending mode (see Chapter 84). You can also determine the location of the shadowby entering an X and Y offsetand the size of the shadow (how diffuse it is) using the Blur value.
