Acknowledgments

This book was definitely a challenge, but fortunately I was able to make it through with the help of several very important people. First and foremost, thank you Marina, for being the most supportive wife in the world and for putting up with losing your husband for months on end while he was neglecting you and paying more attention to his laptop. You are an amazing woman, and I am extremely lucky to have met you. Of course, I'd like to thank the rest of my family, especially my daughter Julia, who misses Daddy as well. Thanks to Val and Elizabeth Ulanovsky who provided me with love and encouragement and the occasional cup of tea to keep me going. I can't describe how much you guys mean to me and how much of an inspiration you are! And yes, Liza, this means it's now time to start hiking again!

A big thanks to Rand Morimoto, whose technical knowledge and business acumen helped to form and shape my career. You entrusted me with your guidance and knowledge, and I am greatly indebted to you in return. In addition, thanks goes out to the other members of Convergent Computing who took time out of their lives to contribute vital information and verbiage to this book, particularly Alec Minty, Guy Yardeni, and Tyson Kopczynski (your scripts are the best Tyson!). To the rest of the team at CCO, it's a wonderful experience working side by side with all of you!

Thanks as well to the members of Microsoft who assisted me with this book, particularly Josue Fontanez, Ellen Knudson, and Tony Bailey. Great product guys!

Of course, I cannot forget my poor editor, Neil Rowe, who put up with my ever-slipping deadline and still managed to sign me up for another two books at the same time. Your patience and work ethic is enviable, and we will definitely have that beer now!
