A Note From the Publisher
We started Syngress in 1997 with the mission of creating great individual books instead of manufacturing them from an assembly line. We have been blessed since then to have attracted some magnificent people who shared our mission, and first among them are Debra Littlejohn Shinder and Thomas Shinder, M.D.
They have worked with us as editors, authors, 'on-air' talent, consultants, and at times, critics; always in the spirit of publishing the best book possible. In the process, they have opened doors for us we didn't even know existed.
They are both firmly rooted in a work ethic befitting a cop and a physician. (Deb's the Cop, Tom's the Doc). They demand quality because, at the end of the day, it's their names on the book and their reputations on the line.
Most importantly, they combine technical brilliance with a passion for teaching. It's a combination that's hard to find, and because of it, they have made over 250,000 IT professionals' life a little bit easier.
