3.3 EM2Go
Although EM2Go
isn't part of Oracle Application Server itself,
Oracle Application Server administrators will find this product very
helpful in monitoring their targets while on the run. EM2Go is the
mobile component of Oracle Enterprise Manager
10g. It facilitates administrator access to a
subset of the Oracle Enterprise Manager functionality through a
Pocket PC browser on a PDA device.Because EM2Go leverages the architecture of Oracle Enterprise Manager
10g, no additional infrastructure is required to
start using the product. EM2Go includes the following:
Oracle Management Service, a J2EE web
application hosted by Oracle Application Server
10gA Management Repository for its persistent data storeDistributed, lightweight Oracle Agents that monitor all services on
the host and execute remote operations on managed services
Communication between EM2Go and Oracle Management Service, and
between Oracle Management Service and the Agents, is performed via
HTTP or HTTPS.Oracle Enterprise Manager automatically gathers and evaluates
diagnostic information from Oracle Application Server systems
distributed across the enterprise. As with all services managed by
Oracle Enterprise Manager, an extensive array of Oracle Application
Server performance metrics are automatically monitored against
predefined thresholds, and alerts are generated when metrics exceed
these thresholds. The EM2Go home page displays all the alerts,
enabling the administrator to drill down into the alert details to
investigate what triggered the problem. Using EM2Go, the
administrator can monitor the availability of the application
servers. The diagnostic reports for CPU usage and memory usage are
also available from your device, providing a graphical view of
current or historical data.
