After you send the email message to the designated Contribute user, he will need to open the message and its attachment to initiate the Contribute Web site connection process. In this section, you'll play the role of the end user to learn how to set up the connection within Contribute with the aid of the connection key.
1. | Open the email message and download the dante-Administrator.stc connection key to your Desktop. |
After the connection key is downloaded to the user's (in this case, your) Desktop, all he has to do is double-click the connection key file to initiate Contribute's connection to the Web site. The user can then begin editing the content.
2. | Double-click the connection key on the Desktop, which opens the Import Connection Key Wizard. Enter the name, email address, and connection key password. |
Because you (in the role of administrator) created this connection key for the Contribute site administrator, you need to enter the name and email address of this individual. This is the same information you provided within the Dreamweaver environment in the previous section (again, this was presumably your own information).
The password should be identical to the one you created earlier for the connection key.
3. | Click OK to initiate the connection-creation process within Contribute. After the connection is successfully created, you'll see the Dante site within the Contribute environment. |
The home page of the Dante site appears in Contribute, indicating that Contribute has successfully created a connection to the Dante site.
4. | Take a few moments to explore the Contribute interface. |
Contribute operates in two modes: browser an217 editor. When you first open Contribute to access a site, you're viewing the site within its browser; pages are rendered as they would be in a regular browser, hyperlinks work, and so on. To navigate the site within Contribute, you can use the navigation bar or links on the site, or use the browser's Back and Forward buttons.
When you're ready to edit a page, you'll click Edit Page in the main menu. After a few seconds, Contribute will download the page and all its assets (such as images) to a local folder, and switch t228 editor mode. Within this mode, the user can (depending on the permissions assigned to the connection) edit text, insert and remove images, create tables, format text, create new pages, insert hyperlinks, and so on.
