prophet muhammad (p.b.u.h) has said, "every muslim, male or female, is required to seek knowledge." once when the prophet went to the mosque, he saw two groups of muslims gathered in different parts of the mosque. one group was busy praying to god and the other was involved in learning and discussing all about knowledge. the prophet said, "both groups are doing good deeds, but i like the group which is learning the most." he then went to join them. the prophet of islam wants all muslims to become educated. due to this, he would take every opportunity to teach people. anytime when there were educated men among the prisoners of war, the prophet would tell them that if they would teach ten muslims to read and write, then they would be set free. in islam learning and getting a good education is very important. imam ali (p.b.u.h.) has said, "there is no treasure like knowledge and wisdom and there is no poverty worse than ignorance and having no knowledge.
