the night of qadr
god has created night and day for people so that they may work in the light
of the day and rest and sleep in the peace and darkness of the night.
all days and nights are good, but some are better than others.for in those
days some good happenings have taken place. one of the best nights is the
"night of qadr."
the night of qadr falls during the month of ramadhan. the month of ramadhan
is the month for fasting, worship, and good deeds. during the night of qadr
all muslims stay awake and are busy praying and worshipping god. in this
sura, god tells us about the night of qadr (destiny):
"in the name of the most merciful, kind god. we have revealed the qur'an
on the night of qadr. how important do you think that the night of qadr is?
(worship) on the night of qadr is better than (worship) for a thousand months.
on this night the angels and the spirit (gabriel) descend by the permission
of their lord, with his decree (for everyone's destiny). this night is all
peace until the break of dawn."
the prophet of islam was a man like the rest of us and he needed food and
sleep in order to walk. he,also, wore clothes, but he was the best of all
men. he was more truthful and did more good deeds than anyone else.
it was for this reason that god made him a prophet, sent him the religion
of islam and commanded him to guide all the people.
in the religion which the prophet of islam brought, there are some very important
commands:
1. god is one, there is no god but him.
2. god will treat people with justice on the day of judgement.
3. people must worship only god and must do good deeds so that god will be
pleased with them and will be kind and merciful to them.
in this verse god commands the prophet to:
"say: i am just a man like you. god has commanded me to tell you that he
is one, and whoever has the hope of meeting his lord must do good deeds and
must worship only him and nothing else."
