the curious boy

hassan is in third grade. he is very intelligent and curious. he does his lessons very well and gives much thought about the facts that he learns and asks the teacher if he does not know the answer.

the teacher one day was teaching the class about the nutriments that our bodies need for safe growth and obtaining the required energy for our daily activities.

he said, "our body needs certain amount of food every day for a proper growth and obtaining the amount of energy that we need for our every day activities. food is not just to satisfy hunger. we need food to have enough energy to work and worship allah properly.

we need potatoes, rice, dates, apples and raisins etc. for food. some people need more food and some people need a little less depending on the amount of their activities.

besides the required amount of protein that come from meat, grains, eggs and other diary products our bodies also need certain amount of vitamins which come from fruits and minerals. whatever our bodies need are found in the food we eat. we must grow and produce different items of food materials for our proper growth and health.

hassan raised his hand to ask a question. he said, "i thought food was to satisfy hunger but now i know that food helps us to grow and perform our activities like school work, teaching, all kinds of jobs and in our worshipping allah.

the teacher said, "yes, it is true that we need all kinds of food and fortunately they all are available. the question is that who has been so kind to us to make all of these food items grow all over the world; someone who really knew what exactly we need? the power who has made all these things grow for us is allah the creator of the worlds. he is very kind to us and has given us the power and the ability to obtain food, do our activities and also worship him properly.

all people should work to help themselves as well as the others. those who do not work or benefit people may not have any right to benefit from whatever others have produced and achieved. every one must do something for the benefits and well being of the others because allah does not love those who are lazy and do not want to work.

we must think about the needy people of the world and work hard to help them.
