Providing a consistent interface is a plus on the Internet, but how can you control IWP when every user in a group can change the initial layout? With a simple script, you can set defaults so all users can see the same initial layout and view when they access the database.
1 .In the database file, choose Scripts > ScriptMaker (Control+Shift+S/Command+Shift+S). When the Define Scripts dialog box appears, click New.
2 .When the Edit Script dialog box appears, type a descriptive name for the script in the Script Name text box.
3 .Scroll down to the Navigation category in the left window and double-click Go to Layout to select it.
4 .
In the Script Step Options section, choose the layout you want to use for the script from the Specify drop-down menu (Figure 17.17).
5 .In the script step window on the left, scroll down and double-click Enter Browse Mode.
6 .Scroll down to the Windows section, and double-click View As (Figure 17.18).
7 .In the Script Step Options section, choose the view in which you want the layout to display (Figure 17.19). In our database, that's View as Form. Click OK twice.
8 .Choose File > File Options. When the File Options dialog box appears, check the Perform script check box in the "When opening this file" section (Figure 17.20).
9 .Select the script you just created from the drop-down script list, then click OK.
Now, whenever any user accesses this database, the layout you chose will always appear in the View format you've selected.
Files hosted with IWP will conform to any record-by-record access rules you have previously set up.
