Note | The DVD-ROM installs packages directly in one continuous operation. In effect, the DVD-ROM is treated by the installation program as one very large CD-ROM, containing all needed packages. |
The DVD contains a comprehensive set of Linux software applications including the GNU software packages (graphics, communications, publishing, editing, programming, games), as well as development tools and Internet servers (ftp, Web, mail, news, and DNS). Both GNOME and the K Desktop Environment (KDE) GUI user interfaces, along with an extensive number of GNOME and KDE applications, are included.
