Menus

A couple of versions ago I remember thinking, "I wish Adobe would bring out a version of Photoshop that would remember all the menu items that I use regularly and leave out the rest." Leave it to me to come up with an incredibly technically complicated way of slimming down the menusby "sensing" what menu items I wanted. Thankfully, Adobe came up with a much simpler idea in Photoshop CS2: editable menus. Just go to the Edit menu, choose Menus, and in the resulting dialog, hide the menu items you don't want to appear. Geez, that was a lot simpler than my idea!

And it really is that simple: In the Menus section of the Keyboard Shortcuts and Menus dialog, scroll down to find the menu you want to edit, click on the right-facing arrow to the left of the menu's name to see its submenus, and then click on the Eye icon to hide that menu's item. Click OK and the item(s) no longer appear under the menu. Once anything is hidden from a menu, you can temporarily access the hidden items, either by holding down Command (PC: Control) as you choose the menu from the menu bar, or by choosing Show All Menu Items from the bottom of the menu.

Workspaces" in this chapter).
