Summary

This chapter began the journey through the Captivate work environment by starting where all Captivate projects start: with a plan.

First, you learned that there are three types of captures that you can create, and each mode has unique features and purposes. Content for Captivate slides can come from a variety of sources, and Captivate movies aren't limited to Web delivery. The addition of Breeze, for example, makes your movies available to users without your needing to know how to design a Web page.

Then the chapter examined the Start page, which is new to Captivate, and the features of the Storyboard View and Edit View panels. Being the replacement for RoboDemo, those of you who are RoboDemo users can expect some major changes, such as the inclusion of the Timeline and a terminology change: frames are now called slides.

We all have our preferred way of working with applications, so this chapter showed how to customize your Captivate workspace and how to "buy" screen space through the Filmstrip and the Captivate preferences. Finally, the chapter finished exploring the Captivate work environment by reviewing the application's major toolbars.

Having looked at the big picture, it is time to get to work and create a Captivate movie, which is the subject of the next chapter.
