Editing a MenuBuilder Project

After the linking information is established and the MenuBuilder project is created, you can still make changes to the document. These changes would include the following:

Changing the text properties

Changing and editing the text style

Spell-checking the project

Indenting subheadings

Changing the link information

Adding text to the document

Adding content such as images to the document

To change the text properties

Open a MenuBuilder project.

Double-click the text block requiring the font change, or right-click the text block and select Properties from the context menu.

The Text Properties dialog box opens (Figure 12.8).

In the Font pop-down list, select the new font.

Select a point size from the pop-down list of preset sizes or enter a new size into the text input box.

If the text needs to be changed, select it in the Text area and enter the replacement text.

To change the font color, click the Color Chip in the Normal Color area and select a new color from the color picker that appears.

To change the hover color (the color of the text that appears when the mouse rolls over the text), click the Color Chip beside the Hover Color area and pick a new color from the color picker that appears.

Click OK.

Tip

The hover color becomes active only if you add a link to the text. In the Text Properties box, roll over the text in the Preview area, and the words will change to the hover color chosen.

To change the text style

Open the Text Properties dialog box.

In the Style pop-down list, choose a new style or select Custom to create a new style (Figure 12.9).

Click OK.

Tips

The text styles in MenuBuilder are assigned when the PowerPoint template is created in PowerPoint. Changing the style in MenuBuilder will not result in a corresponding style change in PowerPoint.

If you change the font, size, and color information, click the "Apply changes to all items" button to apply the style change to all items in the project that are assigned the style.

To edit a text style

Select Tools > Format Styles.

In the Styles area, select the style to be changed.

Select a font, style, and point size.

Click OK to accept the changes and apply them to the project.

To spell-check a MenuBuilder project

Select Tools > Spelling and Grammar or press the F7 key.

MenuBuilder spellchecks the document. If there is an error, you will be presented with the Spelling dialog box (Figure 12.11), and the misspelled word will be red.

Select the correct word from the suggestions and click the Change button.

The change is made, and dialog box informs you of this fact.

To indent subheadings

Open a MenuBuilder project and select the subheading to be indented.

Select Edit > Increase Indent.

The selection will move to the right.

Tip

To outdent a subheading, if you select Edit > Decrease Indent, the selected text will move to the left.

To change the link information

Open the Text Properties dialog box.

In the Link area, click the down arrow button.

Make your changes.

Click OK.

To add text to a document

Open a MenuBuilder project.

Click the text button on the Main toolbar, and press Control-T or select Insert > Text or press Control-T.

The New text dialog box opens(Figure 12.12).

In the Style pop-down, choose a style or select Custom to create a new style.

In the Font area, select a font and point size.

Single-click the Text field and enter the text to be added to the project.

Assign any links to the new text.

Add a tool tip, if needed.

Assign a font and a hover color.

Click OK.

Tip

Clicking OK does not lock the text in place. If you need to change a property of the text just entered, double-click the text block to open the Edit Text dialog box.

To add an image to a MenuBuilder project

Open the project in which the image will be inserted.

Click the Image button on the Main toolbar, select Insert > Image, or press Control-I.

The Open dialog box opens.

Navigate to the folder containing the image, open the folder, select the image, and click the Open button. Alternatively, double-click the desired image.

The New image dialog box opens (Figure 12.13).

If desired, in the Link area, assign a link to the image.

If desired, in the "Tool tip" area, assign a tool tip.

Add any needed transparency options to the image.

Click OK.

The image appears on the project page.

Resize the image and drag it into its final position (Figure 12.14).

To embed the image in the background, select the image and select Edit > Merge into Background.

Tips

Here's an interesting little trick. You don't have to use the buttons or dialog boxes to add an image to your project. Simply drag and drop the image file onto the project's interface, and the image will appear in the project. From there, all you have to do is to resize the image and set the image properties. This technique also works with other content that can be placed in a project.

If you make a mistake, you can correct it by simply double-clicking the image in the document to open the Image Properties dialog box.
