Grouping, Sorting, and Filtering Options

Grouping, sorting, and filtering are performance-intensive operations. Crystal Reports has several settings available to help you fine-tune the performance settings to meet the requirements and capabilities of your database server.

I create groups but I don’t see the group tree in my reports. Why not? Choose File > Options, Layout tab, Preview area, and enable Display Group Tree.

For the current report only, choose File > Report Options and enable/disable the Create Group Tree option.

How can I prevent group names from being added to a Group Header when I create new groups? Choose File > Options, Layout tab, and disable the Insert Group Name With Group check box.

Can I tell Crystal Reports to sort any data it retrieves using my own computer’s memory resources? Choose File > Options, Reporting tab, When Reading Data area, and enable the Always Sort Locally check box.

For the current report only, choose File > Report Options and enable/disable the Always Sort Locally option.

I don’t want the Group Headers to show when I create drill-down areas. Choose File > Options, Reporting tab, and disable the Show All Headers On Drill Down option.

For the current report only, choose File > Report Options and enable/disable the Show All Headers On Drill Down option.

When a report doesn’t have any records that meet my filtering or selection criteria, can I prevent it from returning or printing a blank report? Choose File > Options, Reporting tab, and enable the Suppress Printing If No Records Selected option.

For the current report only, choose File > Report Options and enable/disable the Suppress Printing If No Records option.
