prophet muhammad the most trustworthy man

one year the people of makkah decided to repair the sacred house, the ka'ba
and all people of the city were helping in the work.
the walls were built to the level where the black stone (considered very
sacred and holy) was to be placed and every great man of makkah wanted to
place the black stone in the wall to have this honor for himself and for
his tribe. a dispute among these people started to emerge on this issue.
the dispute was getting more and more serious until all tribes seemed to
be ready for a battle on the issue of placing the black stone in the wall.
at this time a wise man rose to stop them from getting into a fight and he
asked them to find a knowledgeable person to settle the dispute among them
in a peaceful way because wars destroy people and nations and causes huge
losses to lives and properties.
people agreed with him but the question was who would be that person and
from which tribe and this also caused a dispute among them. the same man
came forwards and said, "i suggest to you to wait and accept as the judge
the man who would enter the mosque through this door first". every one agreed
and they all were anxiously looking to the door. a young man entered the
door and every one was happy saying, "he is muhammad, the trustworthy man.
we will accept his decision".
the dispute was explained to the prophet and he after thinking a little said,
"all great people of makkah should share in placing the black stone in the
wall". they said, "how it can happen?" the prophet said, "let one great man
come forwards from each tribe. he then spread his gown on the ground and
placed the black stone on it and asked the man to lift the gown with the
black stone on it and bring forwards to the wall and when it was near the
wall the prophet picked up the black stone and placed it in the wall.
all people of makkah was happy with what the prophet did and thanked him
for his help.
at that time the prophet was young and he had not yet received allah's
commandments to preach islam, but his noble characters were so popular among
people that they used to call him " amin" the trustworthy one.
they used to entrust prophet muhammad with their valuable properties for
safe keeping and the holy prophet would keep them safe and return them safely
whenever needed. people would come to him for settling their disputes and
problems.
may allah's peace and blessings be upon the trustworthy prophet.
