Access point power schemes

The Cisco Aironet AP 1200 provides the ability to accept power over the CAT 5 Ethernet cable. This particular site does not have Ethernet switches that support this Power over Ethernet feature; therefore, power will be provided via the Cisco Inline power injector. These should be located in the wiring closet where the Ethernet switch is located for the given AP. For more on this, refer to the installation documentation from Cisco for the AP 1200.

AP mounting hardware

Cisco provides a mounting bracket for the AP 1200 that offers multiple mounting capabilities, as well as the ability to secure the AP to the mounting bracket with a lock. This should be used in all locations.

Antenna mounting

Each antenna has a unique mounting requirement. Refer to the survey document for the description of mounting.

Use the provided brackets for the 2-dBi diversity omni-directional antenna and mount to the drop ceiling grid work, running the cables up through the ceiling to the AP.

The 6.5-dBi patch antenna is designed to be mounted flat against the wall, positioned so that the cables running out of the top or the bottom of the antenna. This can be mounted to the wall with small (#6) screws.

The 5-dBi sector antenna is designed to be mounted flat against the wall with the cable exiting on the bottom side.
