Site Survey Kits

If you plan to perform more than one site survey, it makes sense to assemble all the necessary components needed into a single kit. With this kit, you can keep all your tools together and ensure you have what you need when you get to the site to do your work (and then provide the best possible solution for the site). You have learned the importance of using the proper APs, client cards, antennas, battery packs, and cables. You have also read about the importance of having a variety of mounting solutions, measuring devices, and attenuators for your survey. With all these tools in one place, you can ensure that you have what you need when rolling out to a customer site.

In come cases, you might just want to buy a site survey kit and add equipment to it. TerraWave offers one such kit (see Figure 7-12). This kit is built around the Cisco Aironet product line. With some thought and adaptation, however, you can use it for virtually any product line. Just apply a little ingenuity and build adaptor cables to mate to other AP types and to a few other APs, and you can have a complete arsenal for your site surveys.
