ON SCIENCE; AN APPROPRIATE INSTRUMENT IN DIALOGS AMONG CULTURES
Taghi Azad Armaki
Dr. Taghi Azad Armaki is the chancellor of the Faculty of
Social Sciences, Tehran University. He obtained his MA and PhD in sociology
from Tarbiyat Modarres in Iran and Maryland University in USA, respectively.
He has published 5 books and numerous
papers.
The dialogs among cultures, in its real concept, should be put
forward and performed in a non-political and non-ideological filed. Due to the
presuppositions wrongly deduced from politics, ideology, religion, civilization,
etc there will be conflicts, instead of dialogs, among cultures.
In order to perform the dialogs among cultures, it should be
noticed that there are other mental instruments as well, which science is the
most obvious and significant of all. If one considers and pays attention to
science, he should take the scientists and their thoughts into his consideration
too. The researcher thinks that this will be an appropriate foundation in the
dialogs among cultures
