B.3 Installing Personal Profile on PocketPC Devices

To install the CDC, Foundation Profile, and Personal Profile on the PocketPC, we have to expand the installation directory. The new directory structure is illustrated in Figure B.3.

Assuming that you already have the J9 VM installed during the MIDP installation process, copy the following additional files from the desktop computer to the device:

Copy the Foundation Profile native implementation library j9foun20.dll from the PC directory IVEHOME/runtimes/pocketpc/arm/ive/bin to the device directory /WSDD/bin.

Copy the Foundation Profile Java class library classes.zip from PC directory IVEHOME/runtimes/common/ive/lib/jclFoundation to the device directory /WSDD/lib/jclFoundation.

Copy the Personal Profile Java class library ppro-ui-win.zip from PC directory IVEHOME/runtimes/pocketpc/common/ive/lib/jclPPro to device directory /WSDD/lib/jclPPro.

Note

The high-level Java UI in the Personal Profile (AWT) and MIDP (LCDUI) share the same underlying native UI library based on IBM SWT.
