10.5 Summary
In this section, we discussed why messaging, especially asynchronous messaging, is essential for reliable and scalable enterprise mobile applications. Enterprise Java developers can quickly migrate their skills to the mobile space with the help of JMS-based mobile messaging middleware. After a brief review of the JMS API, we covered the basic API uses of two leading mobile messaging middleware: iBus//Mobile and IBM WebSphere MQ Everyplace (WMQe). Both of them run on server computers and support mobile clients. WMQe also runs on J2ME mobile devices and enables local messaging gateways. |
