Installing FCP (If Necessary)

If you are upgrading your current FCP system for an uncompressed workflow, you can obviously skip this step.

However, if you are creating the system from scratch, now is the time to install FCP, after the hardware has been installed, the storage drivers are in place, and the storage volumes are created.

Note well that we haven't yet installed the drivers for the capture device. This must take place

after FCP installation, since all the necessary folders and preference files must be in place before we install the capture drivers.

For a detailed explanation of installing FCP for the first time on a system, as well as the tweaking of Mac OS X for use of FCP, see Lesson 10 and 11.
