In previous sections, we've discussed how to design your optimal workflow, chose the appropriate hardware, configure and maintain your system optimally, and integrate your system effectively into your production environment.

Knowing how to troubleshoot is an important part of maintaining a secure, reliable video editing workstation. As stable as FCP is, one can never predict where difficulties will be encountered in individual workflows, so you have to learn how to do the detective work.

This section takes a look at the most common errors and mistakes encountered by Final Cut Pro editors, and shows how to troubleshoot these problems when you encounter them. This lesson explains the basic methodology of troubleshooting. Lessons 17 and 18 are quick-reference guides to help you quickly resolve the most common issues users tend to encounter.
