Set Up Categories (Mac) On the Mac, choose Lists > Categories & Transfers > List, or press Cmd-L. The Categories & Transfers List opens.To add a category, click New. To add a subcategory, first select the parent category in the list, and then click Add Subcategory. In either case, the Set Up Category dialog appears. Enter the name and description for the category or subcategory. If you are adding a new category, choose the Category Type by clicking Income or Expense (if you're adding a subcategory, these buttons will be inactive, because a subcategory must always be of the same type as its parent category). If necessary, click the Tax-related check box. Then you can click Assign tax link and select the line item tax form for that category or subcategory. Click Create when you are done. |
