4-1- The Era of Spiritual Values
The Islamic Revolution shook the foundations of materialism and the
pillars of materialistic powers. It also once again revived the divine,
spiritual values in the peoples life and introduced them to the peoples across
the world, convincing them that all social and individual aspects of human
beings can be managed by religious and ethical values to create a great,
progressive lasting civilization.
"The first message of this revolution was that the era of the rule of
spirituality has began. There were few people who could comprehend this message
and believe it, for the world had been dominated by the waves of materialism
and materialistic powers. Today, the spiritual values are being revived in all
parts of the world and materialism has demonstrated its failure and inability
in all its forms."[42]
The victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran and revival of religion
and divine values, besides neutralizing great investments of the colonial
powers for elimination of religion, caused great developments in its vicinity
one may refer to the defeat of Marxism and disintegration of the Eastern Bloc
as an example. In confronting the religious revolution, the West too paled away
and its inhuman double-standard policies as well as the inability and weakness
of various political, social, cultural and economic systems were exposed.
"All powerful systems of the world have concluded that they have to
wipe out religion from the face of the globe. At a time when such
anti-spiritual efforts are made, in a sensitive spot, a government and
political system is established on the basis of spirituality and Islam. It is
not the entire miracle; it is just the beginning of the miracle and the
establishment of this government as well as its perpetuation for several years.
The perpetuation and evolutionary movement of this religious system over the
past few years untied all the reins, bondages and shackles the global system
had preserved through various means and disturbed all the orders. If the
Islamic Revolution had not achieved victory and the Islamic Republic had not
been established in Iran, the Communist system would not have disintegrated so
soon. Of course, it is right that one day Marxism and the Marxist system would
have faced defeat, but that day was not too early; it might have been thirty,
forty, or sixty years later. The great development that unfolded in the world
stemmed from Islam, the Islamic Revolution and return to spirituality. It is not
a mere claim; it is an analysis and I have faith in it."[43]
The day the Islamic Revolution achieved victory, there was not any news
of Islam, particularly as a liberation flag. Even if someone wanted to revolt,
he would lay the foundations of his revolution on Marxism! [In other words]
being revolutionary was tantamount to being a Marxist!
"Through serious efforts they had isolated or eliminated Islam in their
imaginations. No one dared to be proud of being a Muslim. Just see today,
wherever there are a few Muslims, even if a minority, they hold the Quran in
their hands and announce proudly that they are Muslims. It is one of the
outcomes of your revolution. You accomplished it; it was accomplished by the
Imam."[44]
