Signing Up for MSN Messenger

You need to sign up for a .NET Passport to use the MSN Messenger service. You can use a hotmail email account. Or you can sign up using your own email address.

To sign up and create a new hotmail account, go to registernet.passport.net. A Web page with the form shown on the right opens. The form requests information, such as name, zip code, and birth date. You enter an email account name for a new hotmail account.

The agreements are listed at the end of the form. You enter your name and click I Agree to submit your form for a Passport. A Web page displays saying "Registration is Complete." It shows your email address that serves as your Passport.

To sign up using your own email address, go to the Web page register.passport.net. A Web page with a shorter form opens. You need only fill in your email address and a password you choose for your Passport.

You need to use the email address and password you entered here to use MSN Messenger.
