Installing the SuSE System

When all the settings in the summary screen (Figure 4-31) are correct, click Accept. Up to this point, SuSE has been gathering information, making no changes on your hard drive. Now it begins installing the system, making changes on your hard disk. Before it starts, it displays the warning screen shown in Figure 4-34.

SuSE installs the system in 3 steps:

After installing all the software, SuSE installs the root account that is required for your Linux system, as shown in Figure 4-35.

Type a password for the root account. Type the same password twice, to be sure that you don't make a mistake. It's extremely important that you remember this password. You can't make any changes to your Linux system without using the root account. Even if you install user accounts later and you can log in to a user account, you can't do many things that need to be done unless you can use the root account.
