Future Initiatives
Over time, Luter and his team intend to create a tiered storage infrastructure with clustered Fibre Channel solutions at the high end and a mix of Advanced Technology Attachment (ATA) drives, optical, and content addressed storage (CAS) at the low end (with replication services between both campuses). Content addressable storage offers a flexible solution for large, image-intensive data sets whose frequency of access might be unpredictable, whereas optical data storage offers permanent and unalterable solutions for retention of large data sets. The major IT initiatives on the horizon for the CTRC are completion of the migration to the Cisco IP Storage Services Modules (and decommissioning of the SN5428-2 storage routers) for both iSCSI and FCIP and clustering server environments for greater redundancy at the host level.
