SRM
Although the firm does have SRM software installed, storage administrators do not use the application for the purpose of planning or provisioning new storage. In an unfortunate circumstance for many SRM customers, some SRM applications on the market today (including the one used by this firm) are not yet capable of providing storage management data for Linux hosts. With 20 percent of the more than 1200 open systems hosts at this firm being Linux, storage administrators already have to log directly into each Linux host to retrieve important and meaningful data related to daily allocation and de-allocation processes. This scenario, of course, will be rectified as SRM products mature and are updated to include host agents for Linux.
