As you'll learn in Chapters 5 and 6, you can also edit the current picture in Edit View.

You can display a color dispersion histogram and any EXIF camera data that's stored with an image by clicking the Show/Hide Histogram & Camera Information icon (the beanie beneath the picture).

You can also open any selected picture in another program, if you like. You might want to do some advanced editing in a program that has different features than Picasa, for example.

To open all selected images in your default editor/viewer (Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, for example), choose File > Open File(s) in an Editor. To use a particular editor, right-click a selected image and choose Open With, followed by the program name. (Recently used editors are listed in the Open With submenu.)

To view a picture's EXIF camera data, select its thumbnail and choose Picture > Properties or press .

To prevent certain folders or files from cluttering up the Library or to prevent them from being seen by others, you can hide them, as explained in Chapter 4.

You don't always need to enter search text. You can filter the Picture Library to show only starred files, movies, or a date range by using any combination of those three search controls.

Because you can alter a photo's star setting during a slide show (while viewing full-screen images), you may find it more convenient to do so than while working in the Picture Library.

To immediately end a show or exit from the Timeline interface, you can also press
