Bounding Boxes and Anchor PointsInDesign is engineered from the ground up to allow shape editing. The appearance of a selected frame changes depending on the tool you are working with. When the Selection tool is active, a selected path or frame shows eight bounding box handles, just like in XPress (one on each corner, one on each side; see Figure 11-2). A solid, non-printing center point also appears which is handy for selecting objects that have no content. Figure 11-2. Path and frame with the Selection tool active![]() When the Direct Selection tool is active, you see the the anchor points which make up the shape of the path or frame (see Figure 11-3). It's as though XPress's Edit Shape feature were turned on automatically. A non-printing center point is also displayed. We'll describe how to edit the shape of frames in the next chapter.
