Total Access Emailer

If you have lists of email addresses and want to send emails to them, you've probably found it difficult to automate this process, and to deal with the antivirus features of Microsoft Outlook prompting you when each message is sent.

Fortunately, FMS, Inc. offers Total Access Emailer, a program designed specifically for sending email from Access. Launched interactively as an Access add-in or programmatically through your module code, Total Access Emailer lets you send massive numbers of custom emails from your Access data. Now, I would be the last to recommend you use Access for spam, but leveraging the email addresses of your contacts and customers is very important and cost effective.

Total Access Emailer lets you use an Access table, linked table, or query for your data source. You can send text or HTML messages, with or without attachments. What I really like is its capability to reference fields from your data source in your email. You can easily customize the subject and message for each recipient. The whole subject or message could be a field in your table, or you can use brackets (such as [Address]) in parts of your subject or message, and Total Access Emailer automatically substitutes the record's value for that field in that person's email. Figure 31.9 shows a sample letter produced from Total Access Emailer.

To bypass the limitations of Outlook, Total Access Emailer uses SMTP (which comes with Windows 2000 or later), which can send large numbers of emails at one time. Total Access Emailer includes a royalty-free runtime license so that you can add its features to your application for distribution to others. A functional trial version is available from the FMS Web site, http://www.fmsinc.com.
