Solutions::Explorer
Solutions::Explorer, produced by DBI Technologies (http://www.dbi-tech.com), provides five ActiveX controls. All the controls are designed to allow the developer to easily add navigation functionality to the applications that he builds. The five controls are as follows:
- ctButton
- ctExplorer
- ctFile
- ctFrame
- ctHypLnk
ctButton provides a command button that supports transparency. This allows you to mimic Internet Explorer by including transparent backgrounds and transparent bitmaps.ctExplorer is an extremely powerful navigational control. It combines a Tree view, List view, HTML view, listbar, tabs, and splitter bar into a single component. This makes it amazingly easy to create multiple views within a single document. For example, you can drill down within an area to see the different homes in that area. You can then view a general description, a detailed description, financial information, and pictures of the selected home. The general description would be an HTML document, whereas the detailed description would be stored in a Microsoft Word document and the financial information would be stored in Microsoft Excel. ctExplorer makes it amazingly easy to display the content of these disparate documents within a single simple interface.ctFile provides an easy way to display the File Common Dialog box. It sports special properties that augment the functionality of the standard common dialog box. The ctFrame component helps you to create boxes, title bars, and container objects with a variety of border effects. Finally, ctHypLnk is a caption component that allows a user to open a document. In essence, it is a label that acts like a hyperlink.As you can see, Solutions::Explorer includes several valuable components. The product ships with a sample database that highlights the use of each component and provides sample code that you can use in the applications that you build.
