Total Access Detective
If you've ever made changes to two copies of the same database, or if your users have made changes that they wanted you to integrate back into the "master" copy, you know how difficult it is to determine what actually changed.Fortunately, Total Access Detective, produced by FMS, Inc., provides you with an excellent comparison wizard for Microsoft Access. Using the powerful tool, you can easily compare any two objects in one database or any two databases with each other. This is extremely beneficial in a multi-developer environment where different developers are making changes to different database objects. Total Access Detective assists you with the process of merging changes made by multiple developers.After you have run the Comparison Wizard, you will be able to identify changes in properties, controls, fields, indexes, macro line, and code. Total Access Detective can even compare two versions of the same table to identify their data differences.Figure 31.17 shows the Comparison Wizard. It walks you through the process of selecting and comparing two database objects. After you click the Do Comparison button, Total Access Detective analyzes the objects and identifies their differences. Figure 31.18 illustrates an example of the results.
