Open a new image window and use the Horizontal Type tool to create some type.
In the Layers palette, make sure that the Type layer is selected.
Click the Add Layer Style button at the bottom of the palette and choose Drop Shadow from the menu.The Layer Styles dialog box opens with Drop Shadow selected. Use the Drop Shadow area at the center of the dialog box (see Figure 17-9) to set the size and opacity of the shadow and select a blending mode.

Use the Blend Mode drop-down list to select Dissolve mode and move the Opacity slider to the desired opacity.For this example, Opacity is set at 75%. In addition, Distance is set to 10 pixels and Size is set to 24 pixels.
Click OK.The grainy drop shadow appears behind the type. Figure 17-10 shows two versions of the drop shadow. One uses Normal mode (top) and the other uses Dissolve mode (bottom).
