Taking Layer Styles Apart
Layer styles can be really informative. If you ever create a style and then say, “How does it do that?” you can take the layer style apart to see what makes it tick.To check out the anatomy of a layer style, select the layer containing the style in the Layers palette, and then choose Layer>Layer Style>Create Layers. Each layer style effect is separated onto its own layer (some layer styles may create two layers).Take a look at where the layers are located in the Layers palette and check out their order. Figure 20-14 shows a heart with several layer styles applied: a drop shadow, a bevel, and an inner glow. Figure 20-15 shows the effects broken down into layers in the Layers palette.
