PLAN FUNDING

Another strategy that is crucial to the survival of the business continuity planning program is the determination of how the endeavor will be funded. This is especially true in and healthcare organization that has multiple facilities. The problem is that outside the primary facility, managers will tend not to take ownership for the survivability of the healthcare organization. When the requirement to have a business continuity plan is thrust upon them, the reaction is generally, "fine, but I'm not going to pay for it".

Instead of trying to fight this attitude, healthcare organizations that have been successful in implementing and institutionalizing business continuity planning have funded the program centrally. Once managers understand that the work effort has already been paid for, there is little reason for resistance.
